TREATMENT

In initial stage the hernia may be a small lump in the groin but it can grow much larger day by day depends on your different activities and it can also shrink. Inguinal hernia will not heal by itself a surgery will be required to be repaired. Increased abdominal pressure is the reason for growing the Inguinal hernia. Abdominal pressure may increased when  straining to have a bowel movement sneezing etc.

SURGERY

The surgery can be performed by a general surgeon or a colon-rectal specialist. Before surgery the doctor will give a general anesthesia. Surgery will begins with an incision on either side of the hernia. A laparoscope is used to inserted into one incision, and the other incision is used for some additional surgical instruments. Surgeon isolates the part of abdominal lining that is pushing through the muscle.

The surgeon returns the tissue called “hernia sac.” to its proper position inside the body and will begin to repair the muscle defect. The defect in the muscle is small means, it will be sutured closed. If the defect is large then suturing is not adequate.  In such case, a mesh graft is used to cover the hole. The mesh is permanent and prevents the hernia from returning. Once muscle has been sewn, the laparoscope can be removed and the incision can be closed.
