Varicose Vein Treatment


OVERVIEW

Varicose veins are formed due to the small valves in the veins become weak. As an after effect these valves will stop blood flowing backward through the veins. This cause blood can pool in veins and these veins become twisted and swollen. Varicose veins are very visible because these are twisted and swollen with dark blue or purple color.

People are not concerning varicose vein as a serious issue. For some people varicose vein causes severe pain and discomfort. If you didn’t give enough care or treatment then it will results serious health issues.

SYMPTOMS

Some varicose veins will not have that much pain or discomfort.

The symptoms of varicose veins includes,

  • Burning like feeling in leg.
  • Throbbing
  • Muscle cramping
  • Swelling in your lower legs
  • Severe pain after sitting or standing for a long time
  • Itching around veins

  • Pain with red discoloration in the skin
  • Hardening of the vein
  • Inflammation of the skin
  • Skin ulcers near your ankle – If this symptom is there means you have a serious form of vascular disease that have to be treated.

Spider veins and varicose veins are similar. Spider veins are seems smaller and closer to the skin’s surface.

DIAGNOSIS

It is easy to diagnose varicose veins by a physical test. Doctor will see your legs to check for swelling and doctor may also ask you that is there any pain or other symptoms that you are feeling or not.

An ultrasound test also will conduct to ensure that the veins are functioning normally. In this test, the medical person runs a transducer, against the skin over the area of your body being examined. The transducer will transmit images of the veins in your legs to a monitor.

TREATMENT

If self-care is not enough, or if your condition is more severe, then your doctor will suggest any one of these varicose vein treatments:

  • Sclerotherapy
  • Foam sclerotherapy of large veins
  • Laser surgeries
  • Catheter-assisted procedures using radiofrequency or laser energy
  • High ligation and vein stripping
  • Ambulatory phlebectomy
  • Endoscopic vein surgery

SURGERY

  1. Laser surgeries

In Laser surgeries doctors are using new technology to close off smaller varicose veins and spider veins.  In this surgery not any incisions or needles are used. In laser surgery a strong bursts of light is sending onto the vein. It will make the vein slowly disappear.

  1. Endoscopic vein surgery

These surgeries are usually doing in extreme end like leg ulcers are along with varicose vein or other techniques fails.

In this surgery surgeon uses a thin video camera and it inserted in your leg to visualize and close varicose veins. Then removes the varicose veins through small incisions.
